DLD2 - Litchfield Secrets - Tented Accommodation
Duration: 2 Days, 1 Nights
Departing Darwin, capital of the Top End, we head south along the famous Stuart Highway, turning off to beautiful
Berry Springs Nature Park for our first stop. We then continue into the unique tropical oasis of Litchfield Park,
enjoying the first of our picnic lunches. We visit Wangi Falls with the chance to swim in the crystal clear waters
below the falls and then view the Tolmer Falls and Buley Rockholes.
We have another chance to swim when we reach Florence Falls, then we travel on to spend a relaxing evening at
Litchfield.
Overnight: Litchfield Safari Camp (DBB)
After a morning swim at Wangi Falls, we head off to explore some historic sites at Blyth Homestead and onwards to
the Lost City to explore the mystic rock formations and learn more about the hidden wonders of the area. We venture
through Batchelor discovering sone of Litchfield's most unique sites as we visit the incredible Termite Mounds.
Hundreds of termite mounds standing up to two metres high in a wide swathe of empty ground will amaze.
The mounds are like enormous magnetic compasses, with their thin edges pointing north south and broad backs east
west minimising their exposure to the sun, keeping the mounds cool for the termites inside. Nearby, a large
cathedral termite mound stands. This concludes our tour and we depart for our back road trip to Darwin.
