Duration: 7 Days, 6 Nights
En route visit the Adelaide River wetlands, Fog Dam Conservation Reserve and the Bark Hut Inn for refreshment
stop before entering Kakadu. Our next stop is at Ubirr where groups of Aboriginal people camped in rock shelters
around to take advantage of the enormous variety of foods available from the East Alligator River, the Nadab
floodplain, the woodlands, and the surrounding stone country. This is an exciting and informative stop for
information on Australian Indiginous peoples.
We continue to Jabiru to the northern region of Kakadu National Park to Cahill's Crossing on the East Alligator
River and enter Arnhem Land. A 15km scenic drive to Gunbalanya Aboriginal Community provides some of the best
driving views in the Top End. Floodplains covered in bird life and lagoons with waterlilies running up alongside
the Arnhem Land escarpment. Upon arrival at Gunbalanya we will visit the Injalak Arts and Craft Centre. Here you
have the opportunity to meet and watch traditional local artists in action. Onwards to Nourlangie Rock and
occupation sites dated in excess of 20,000 years.
Tonight we explore and view unique aboriginal art & culture on an aboriginal art tour. The art is inspiring,
colourful and sacred, from a culture dating back more than 65,000 years. These art sites are a fascinating
insight into one of the world’s oldest and most unique cultures.

towering cliffs of Jim Jim Falls. We have plenty of time to marvel the shady monsoonal rainforest along Jim Jim
Creek and then its off to join a sunset cruise on the famous Yellow Waters, abundant with many species of birds
and the mighty salt water crocodile. Our final destination for the day is at our overnight stay at Cooinda
Campground.
Overnight: Cooinda Campground, Cooinda (DBBL)
Today we explore Maguk (Barramundi Gorge). Here we take a scenic 1 km walk along the edge of Barramundi Creek before arriving at the base of Barramundi Falls for a swim in the large plunge pool below, along with the large array of aquatic life that is present at Maguk. Onwards to Gunlom Falls - made famous in the movie "Crocodile Dundee" as Echo Pool. Our final stop is at Gunlom Campground.
Overnight: Gunlom Campground, Kakadu (DBBL)
Today we visit Koolpin Gorge an extremely sensitive area consisting of beautiful waterfalls, plunge pools and magnificent lookouts and then its off to the fascinating historic town of Pine Creek and the historic Goldfields, full of unusual buildings and memories of the old railway and telegraph line.
Located 248 km south of Darwin on the Stuart Highway Pine Creek was named after the local creek which was crossed in December 1870 by the teams constructing the Overland Telegraph Line. The creek was notable, as the name suggests, for the many pines on its banks. Pine Creek's busiest time was during the Second World War when as many as 247 trains came trough in one week in 1944. After an interesting stop at Pine Creek, we continue on to Edith Falls which is located on the western boundary of Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge). The paperbark and pandanus fringed natural pool at the base of the falls is safe for swimming throughout most of the year.
Our final stop today is at Katherine Gorge where we take an amazing 2 hour commentated cruise where we view the Southern Rock hole and famous cliff face - Jedda's Rock. Then its off to our campground at Nitmiluk National Park.
Overnight: Katherine Gorge/ Nitmiluk National Park (DBBL)
It's an adventurous day today with our first stop at Daly River, well known as it encompasses many unique
ecosystems, including hot springs and gorges, making it a fantastic spot to camp and bushwalk. Prior to European
settlement, the Daly River was traditionally a meeting place for Aboriginal people to trade and hold ceremonies.
Today it is a popular fishing and camping area renowned for its plentiful supply of barramundi. We continue on to
Litchfield National Park with its open eucalyptus woodland, dense tropical rainforest and magnetic termite mounds.
In the dry season you can easily get to most of the waterfalls that plunge from the rocky escarpment of the Table
Top Range that plunge into refreshing pools. We conclude our day journey at our overnight campground at Wangi.
Overnight: Wangi campground, Litchfield National Park (DBBL)
Today we head to some incredible lookouts and falls. We venture through Batchelor discovering some amazing natural
wonders at one of Litchfield's most unique sites as we visit the incredible Termite Mounds. Hundreds of termite
mounds standing up to two metres high in a wide swathe of empty ground will amaze. The mounds are like enormous
magnetic compasses, with their thin edges pointing north south and broad backs east west minimising their exposure
to the sun, keeping the mounds cool for the termites inside. Nearby, a large cathedral termite mound stands.
Continuing on, we head to our next stops which include Florence Falls, Tolmer Falls lookout, Wangi Falls and Buleys
Waterhole.
Overnight: Wangi campground, Litchfield National Park (DBBL)
Today we further enjoy Wangi Falls and a relaxing stop at Litchfield. Then its off to more hidden corners and secret termite mounds. Onwards to visit Territory Wildlife Park and Berry Springs, on route to Darwin our final destinations. We have a little city sight seeing before our drop off at your hotel.
