
BKB12 - The Complete Kimberly Experience
Duration: 12 Days, 11 Nights
NOTE: We suggest you arrive in Broome Friday or Saturday prior to departure and strongly advise you book the
Old Broome Guesthouse (Deluxe Rooms) or Cable Beach Club or the Ocean Lodge Motel for your overnight
accommodations.
Departing Broome, we will head east through the Robuck Plains across to Willare and onwards to the historic
Boab Prison Tree and the Long Cattle Drinking Trough on the outskirts of Derby. We then travel into Derby itself,
view the famous Long Wharf and experience the tide movements of King Sound. Leaving Derby with it's wide streets
featuring the extraordinary Boab Trees we head along the Gibb River Rd crossing through the Napier Range past Mt
Amy to the ancient King Leopold Range and journey our way to Bell Gorge.
Bell Gorge is one of the most picturesque gorges in the Kimberley and you will have time to do some short walks
and have a relaxing swim before heading off to Imintji. We conclude our day at the Charnley River Station with
our unique rondi accommodation and dine with our hosts in the main homestead.

Leaving our rondi setting for the day after a hearty breakfast, we have the exclusive opportunity to explore
some of the many hidden corners of this giant Cattle Station, featuring 6,000 head of Brahama Stock and on some
occasions you may observe the helicopter and stockman mustering. We will visit the amazing Junction Watering Hole
and Grevilla Gorge, with opportunity for a swim while you enjoy the scenery.
The afternoon will be spent exploring different sections of the cattle station including Donkey Hole, another
waterfall and picturesque swimming stop at the station. On return to the homestead later in the afternoon, you
are free to enjoy social drinks with the hosts and hear many a story about the station.
Overnight: Charnley River Station, CHARNLEY (DBB)
We begin today with an early start with our first port of call the grand scenic views from Phillips Range
Lookout. Descending down the range, we take the opportunity to visit Galvan's Gorge with a short scenic walk
and splash. Onwards to Mount Barnett Roadhouse to stock up supplies and fuel before continuing on the Gibb River
Road to Barnett River Gorge. Next we turn off Gibb River Road onto Kalumburu Road and head north to Drysdale River
Station for a brief stop at the homestead as we continue down the banks of the Drysdale River for a delightful
picnic lunch.
Continuing north, we leave Kalumburu Road and head west on the Mitchell Plateau Track crossing the King Edward
River - a reasonably adventurous task as the river crossing always has ample water flow from the high country.
Just past the river we take the time to view some unique aboriginal artwork.
The journey continues into the Mitchell Plateau to arrive late afternoon at the delightful Ungolan Wilderness
Camp for our next two nights stay. Once settled in to our permanent camp accommodation, you are free to relax
and refresh by the natural spring water pool before our evening of dining and camp fire stories.

A relaxing day today to explore the remarkable Mitchell Falls with a guided walk in and we suggest you take
advantage of the optional scenic helicopter ride over this spectacular wilderness corner of the Kimberly's and
even out to the rugged coastal escarpment.
You are free to enjoy a swim and the scenery of the falls. We return
to our tranquil camp in the afternoon which is set amongst a towering forest of Livistona Palms.

Today we cross the mighty King Edward River and view the unique Bradshaw Painting and other indigenous
heritage items of our past. Continuing we head south once again to join the Gibb River Road crossing many
rivers including the famous Durack River on our way to Home Valley Station.

Today we leave Home Valley Station and cross the mighty Pentecost River with the towering orange Cliffs of the
Cockburn Ranges as our backdrop. Heading towards the famous El Questro Station of over one million acres, we
arrive to be treated to a special thermal dip and relax by the lush palms of Zibbity Springs. Onwards from here
we cross the Chamberlain River to enter the Station Township and settle into our accommodation before exploring
more hidden corners of El Questro and the grand views of Branco's Lookout and other scenic areas.

Leaving El Questro we head to its other special identity at Emma Gorge where we have the option to walk into
the Gorge. We conclude out journey on the Gibb River Road and follow the Erskine Range along to Wyndhan. Here we
will observe the historic wharf area, the heritage buildings and the spectacular Five Rivers Lookout. During the
afternoon we will head to Kunnunurra situated on Lake Kunnunurra prolific for its bird and wild life.
Overnight: Hotel Kununurra, KUNUNURRA (DBB)
Firstly this morning we will enjoy the surrounds of Kununurra including hidden valley National Park which has
some similarity to the 'domes' of the Bungle Bungles before heading out to Lake Argyle and the Ord River Dam.
Lake Argyle is Australia's largest freshwater lake and makes up the enormous storage for the irrigation scheme
in the Kunnunurra area.
This afternoon we return to Kununurra for free time before we join our afternoon sunset BBQ cruise at 3pm. You
will cruise the Ord River and Lake Kununurra, seeing a plethora of birds and wildlife, while enjoying a buffet
of delicious food.
We conclude the cruise and our evening with some crocodile spotlighting.

Leaving Kununurra we head for Turkey Creek (Warnun) for a short break before adventuring into the Hidden south
eastern corner of the Kimberley's Region where you will be awestruck by the sandstone domes of the Bungle Bungle
Range (Purnululu National Park). The range had only been seen by a few locals until discovered by a television
crew in 1982. We enjoy a real 4WD adventure to discover this special area. During the afternoon we travel to
Echidna Chasm and Mini Palms Gorge which reveals a hidden valley of beautiful ferns and palms.
We then head further south enjoying the sunset on the Range and to our destination at Bellburn Camp.
Overnight: Permanent camp, Bellburn, BUNGLE BUNGLES (DBB)
After enjoying a terrific night in the real outback of Australia we take a short drive to the Helicopter pad
were you may wish to take an optional flight over the Bungle Bungle Range. We continue on to Cathedral Gorge
for a walk and closer sightseeing of the 360 million year old honeycomb formations.
We take our regular stop by a cool stream under the shade of trees for a relaxing picnic lunch before
we head out through the rugged ranges to Halls Creek.
Overnight: Kimberley Hotel, HALLS CREEK (DBBL)
Leaving Halls Creek we head to the Mary River Waterhole to see an abundance of birdlife before heading westwards
to enjoy a grand view from a scenic lookout at Ngumpan Cliffs. Onwards through the large cattle stations Gogo and
Fossil Downs Station to Fitzroy Crossing.
During the afternoon we head out through Brooking Springs Station to Geike Gorge National Park to enjoy a 3pm
cruise along the Fitzroy River.
You will be encompassed by spectacular views of the Fitzroy River and learn how it has cut its way through the
Geike Gorge Range over millions of years. You will notice polished limestone from the enormous flow of the river
in the wet season, carrying Australia's largest volume of water whilst in flood.

Leaving the highway, we follow a back track through the rugged Kimberley’s to visit Tunnel Creek Gorge, where
nature has carved a 750 metre tunnel through the mountain. Experience an amazing guided tour with torch light.
You will discover the remarkable geological features of the limestone formation as you delve deep into the tunnel.
Our adventure continues as we explore the gorge where the Lennard River has carved its way through the limestone
cliffs with large waterholes, colourful cliffs and giant sandbars. On our trek along the banks of Lennard River
we experience a breathtaking up close and personal view of the abundant freshwater crocodiles. A refreshing
picnic lunch concludes our exploratory morning at Windjana National Park.
Onwards heading west, we rejoin the Gibb River Road to wind our way through the ranges to join the main road near
Derby before spending the late afternoon enjoying the drive returning to Broome. To conclude our memorable Kimberly
experience (time permitting) we will drive along Cable Beach utilizing our luxury 4WD vehicle to a selected spot
to observe the sunset camel safaris.
