
SFB7 Special - Sydney to Northern NSW National Parks and Fraser Island Special
Duration: 7 Days, 6 Nights
We leave Sydney early and travel up to Wollombi and through native bush country via the rugged sandstone ridges of Mangrove Mountain, crossing the Hawkesbury River and north into the Hunter Valley Vineyards before venturing onwards to the foothills of Barrington National Park then driving along some rainforest trails before finally resting for lunch at Gloucester.
After lunch we head along more forest tracks to Ellenborough Falls, one of Australia's tallest single drop waterfalls, then on through spectacular countryside with breathtaking views and onwards to Mount Seaview.
Overnight: Mount Seaview Retreat, MOUNT SEAVIEW (DBB)
We depart Mount Seaview and journey into Port Macquarie to the headwaters of the Hastings River
before travelling through the wilderness - some unique fauna and flora with rugged stands of
ancient Antarctic Beech trees amongst the cool temperate forests, reminiscent of our past Gondwana Land
and onwards to World Heritage listed Werrikimbe National Park, traversing the escarpment before heading
on through Willi Willi National Park towards the rich grazing fields of the Macleay Valley where we will
stop for lunch.
After lunch we will head on to the beautiful Nambucca River then follow many scenic trails and landscapes
through to the famous "Pub With No Beer" at Taylor's Arm before enjoying a visit to the historic town of
Bellingen then to the "promised Land" countryside before reaching Coffs Harbour where we will enjoy an
overnight stay.

We leave Coffs Harbour early and pay a quick visit to Woolgoolga before heading to Bungulung National
Park and then through the states largest sugarcane farming area in the Clarence Valley before journeying
into the Broadwater National Park and onto our lunch stop in beautiful Ballina. From here we enjoy some of
Australia's most spectacular coastline via Lennox Heads before heading to the lighthouse at Cape Byron
and onwards to Byron Bay and "Australia's most easterly point" where during the winter months we may
observe humpback whales frolicking in the coastal waters.
We continue over the ranges past Mullumbimby into the Border Ranges National Park where we see Mt
Warning, a famous extinct volcanic plug in this rich alluvial valley, and take in the magnificent
scenery of this beautiful valley Tweed Valley, crossing the border into Queensland and travelling
onwards to Surfers Paradise, the playground for the rich and famous.
Overnight: The Mermaid Waters Quality Inn, MERMAID WATERS (BB)
An early departure from the Gold Coast to travel to Brisbane over the Gateway Bridge and on to
the Glass House Mountains and on to the Sunshine Coast region to arrive at one of Australia's
best seaside playgrounds at Noosa Heads.
Crossing the Noosa River by ferry, we join the coloured sands of Cooloola Beach then travel many
kilometres along the beach. We venture over Double Island Point to the coloured sands, a wonderful
beach and cliff area, decorated by ochreous coloured sands to Rainbow Beach. We now travel along
the beach to Inskip Point joining the barge to cross to Fraser Island World Heritage area.
Overnight: Eurong Beach Resort, FRASER ISLAND (DBB)
Today we start our exploration of Fraser Island by heading northwards along the great Eastern
shoreline known as Seventy Five Mile Beach. We visit the famous Maheno Wreck, Eli Creek,
Champagne Pools, The Pinnacles and Waddy Point, which are all of great historical and picturesque
interest. We arrive late afternoon at our resort for relaxation time.
Overnight: Eurong Beach Resort, FRASER ISLAND (DBB)
Today we continue our adventure on Fraser Island by touring to Lake Birrabeen and Lake Boomanjin
- which is the world's largest perch lake. From here we travel to Central Station that's
surrounded by and abundance of rainforest, wildlife and many freshwater streams, making this our
stop for lunch.
After lunch we travel to the crystal clear Lake McKenzie. We have time now to enjoy a relaxing swim
and sit on the brilliant white sands surrounding the lake.
Overnight: Eurong Beach Resort, FRASER ISLAND (DBB)
We take a morning walk into the unique Lake Wabby, a lake that is being overtaken 1 metre per
year by an enormous sand-blow. Lake Wabby is the deepest and most picturesque lake on the Island.
Departing the island, the tour comes to a conclusion when we reach Brisbane, where we will drop off
passengers at their inner city motel or airport.
Tour departs at 7:30am from Sydney on Sunday 4th March 2012 with a minimum of 4 passengers.
